NSW Litre Sprintcar Association Rule Book HERE

Over the past few years Litre Sprintcars have been known as a support division to the more powerful V8 Sprintcars , Speedcars (midgets) and Super Sedans, but are now a major division in themselves. The increasing number of cars and a growing number of meetings with Litre Sprintcars on the program have contributed to the popularity of the class.

Known as Mini Sprints in the United States and New Zealand , the little winged warriors have only ever raced in the eastern states of Australia but due to their popularity and relatively low expense , new clubs are forming in other states so soon they will be a national division.

Litre Sprintcars in Australia have evolved from being a class of home built plain cars to a class of beautifully presented race cars with all the best and latest technology from the U.S , New Zealand and here in Australia.

This class has not only changed it's look with top class paint jobs and top class parts but also with the power which sees the Litre Sprintcars top the lap times of even more powerful cars like Speedcars (midgets) at some tracks.

These cars are truly awesome to watch and with their flat to the floor driving style, Litre Sprintcars will be around for many years to come.

A Litre Sprintcar is a purpose built race car designed to race on a dirt oval track. Tracks can vary in size from about 400meters to 460meters. The track surface can be clay , gravel or a mixture of both. Litre Sprintcars race in an anti clockwise direction so the cars are designed to turn left.

The rear axle is one piece from left to right so we run what we call stagger to help turn the car left. Stagger is the difference in circumference between the right and left rear tires . Because of the one piece rear axle only one brake is needed on the back and at the front there is only a brake on the on the left side. The top wing is designed for down force and the side boards help the car from sliding to much .

The engines are either from a motor bike or a small car. There is no clutch or gearbox so the car in or out gear via a selector in the diff so the car must be pushed in gear to start.
